I am a postgraduate in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology. I completed my masters' thesis at the "Complex Systems Lab" at the Indian Institute of Technology. My masters' thesis was in the interdisciplinary field of non-linear dynamics, complex systems and network science.

My research interests include complexity science, network science, non-linear dynamics, complex system modelling, machine learning application on complex systems and sociophysics.

I am Professor at the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi, North Campus, Delhi. My PhD degree is from the Physics Department at Purdue University, Indiana, USA. My research is in the area of theoretical physics. In the past I have worked in quantum field theory, statistical mechanics of superstrings and random matrix theory. Currently I am working on application of ideas from field theory, statistical mechanics, random matrix theory and data science to quantum chaos, condensed matter physics and complex systems like financial markets and proteins.

Peter Turchin is a scientist and an author who wants to understand how human societies evolve, and why we see such a staggering degree of inequality in economic performance and effectiveness of governance among nations (see Research Interests). Peter’s approach to answering these questions blends theory building with the analysis of data. He is the founder of a new transdisciplinary field of Cliodynamics, which uses the tools of complexity science and cultural evolution to study the dynamics of historical empires and modern nation-states.

Peter has published two hundred articles, including a dozen in such top journals as Nature, Science, and PNAS (see Academic Publications). His publications are frequently cited and in 2004 he was designated as “Highly Cited Researcher” by ISIHighlyCited.com. Turchin has authored seven books (see Books), including Secular Cycles (with Sergey Nefedov, Princeton, 2009), and War and Peace and War (Penguin, 2005).

His most recent books are Ultrasociety: How 10,000 Years of War Made Humans the Greatest Cooperators on Earth and Ages of Discord: A Structural-Demographic Analysis of American History.

Riccardo Di Clemente is a Lecturer in Data Science at University of Exeter in the department of Computer Science, he is External Advisor for QuestPair to bridge cutting edge research with companies R&D. He it is collaborating with the World Bank through the MindEarth NPO to assessing the human displacement after natural disaster. Moreover, Riccardo has been Newton International Fellow of the Royal Society at University College London UCL at the Centre for Advance Spatial Analysis (CASA).

The aim of his research is to understand and quantify, using mobile phone data, the relationship between the features of human mobility and the social interactions which lead to the socio-economic structures observed in cities.

DPhil candidate in Mathematics at the University of Oxford. Previously MSc form Oxford and BSc in Physics from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). My research interests lie in the study of complex networks by means of community detection tools. I am particularly interested in the interplay between structure and functionality in retail, spatial, social and biological networks, and in the statistical and Bayesian models that are appropriate for them.

Samin Aref is a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Germany) working on several projects primarily in Computational Social Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Auckland (New Zealand) and has a background in Operations Research and Network Science. His research falls into two broad topics: (1) modeling and analysis of social systems using complex networks and (2) studying the mobility and migration of researchers using bibliometric data.

I am Assistant Professor (RTDB) at the University of Padova, Physics and Astronomy Department. I co-lead the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Physics (www.liphlab.com). My main research themes can be classified in three broad areas: 1) The formulation of simple principles to explain self-organization and emergent simplicity in nature; 2) Data analysis and complex network modeling and non-linear dynamics in socio-ecological systems; 3) Criticality in living systems, with a particular focus on brain criticality. In particular, his work focuses on the study of complex living systems under a theoretical framework provided by statistical mechanics. I address a wide range of related topics, including ecosystem organizations, ecological networks, stochastic modelling of ecosystems dynamics and eco-hydrological processes, sustainability and ecosystems services, brain networks and whole brain models.

I am a post doctoral researcher at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), working on anticipating sudden transitions in psychiatric data. My broad area of interest is in nonlinear time series analysis, specifically in meeting challenges of applying nonlinear time series techniques to real world data. I mostly work on astronomy and psychiatric data. In the former I am interested in variable star data, especially in the dynamics of pulsating and eclipsing variable stars. In the latter I work on physical activity, heart rate and momentary mood state datasets.
